Drakensburg Crag Lizard Pair

The Drakensburg Crag Lizard is a rare species that has survived in isolated pockets in the Drakensberg Mountains. This large lizard (growing to about 50cm) has a small head, long tail and short limbs. It is gray on its back with yellow stripes and a cream belly. It feeds mainly on insects, especially grasshoppers and caterpillars. They are nocturnal and shelter during the day under rocks or in crevices. The Drakensburg Crag Lizard is currently classified as Endangered due to habitat loss caused by farming and development, as well as over-collection for the pet trade. This Lizard is an excellent choice for any hobbyist, whether you are wanting to keep them as pets, or sell them as a source of income.
